Lijn-B Consent

A calm cookie banner for WordPress

Asks for permission before scripts run, and works with page caching. No subscription, no premium version.

Lijn-B Consent is a free WordPress plugin that asks your visitors for permission before scripts that set cookies or collect data are allowed to run. You list the scripts to block, the visitor chooses, and only then do they start.

It does what a cookie banner should do and nothing more: no account, no license key, no upsells, no monthly fee and nothing sent to another party.

Ask first, and ask calmly

I built Lijn-B Consent for my own clients, because I did not want a paid consent service that fills your mailbox and asks for a fee later on. I wanted a banner that is easy to read, treats refusing as seriously as accepting and does not get in the way of the website.

It is deliberately small. It does not scan your site for cookies and it is not a consent platform for advertising networks. You decide which scripts to block, and you describe your cookies yourself.

What Lijn-B Consent does

List the scripts that set cookies or collect data. Visitors see a banner on their first visit; what they choose decides whether those scripts run.

Key features

Blocks the scripts you choose

By handle or by a part of the web address, per category: statistics or marketing. A blocked script does nothing until the visitor agrees. Without JavaScript nothing blocked runs.

Accepting and rejecting look the same

Equal buttons, so refusing is as easy as accepting. Nothing is switched on beforehand.

Choices per category

A panel with a switch per category and a table of the cookies in it: name, purpose and duration.

Withdraw at any time

A link, a menu item or a small floating button opens the settings again. Withdrawing removes the cookies you listed and reloads the page.

Works with page caching

The page is the same for everyone, so LiteSpeed, WP Rocket and Cloudflare can cache it. Blocked scripts are delivered inactive and start in the browser after the choice.

Your own look

Your own texts, colours, rounded corners, position (card, bar or centered) and how long a choice is remembered.

Small hooks for developers

A JavaScript event when the choice changes, a function to ask whether a category is allowed, and a filter to block a script by your own rule.

English and Dutch

The admin and the banner come in English and Dutch.

Who is Lijn-B Consent for?

For site owners and builders who use a few known scripts, such as analytics, and want to ask permission for them in a clear way. If you need a platform for advertising networks (IAB TCF or Google Consent Mode) or automatic cookie scanning, this is not the plugin, and I would rather say so openly.

Privacy by default

The choice is stored in one cookie in the visitor’s own browser. Nothing is stored on your server, nothing is sent to anyone and the plugin keeps no log of individual choices. The plugin helps you ask for consent, but compliance is yours: it is not legal advice. Block every script that sets cookies or collects personal data, and describe your cookies in your privacy policy.

Lijn-B Consent is in development and already running on a client site. Download the latest version below; later updates appear in your plugin list.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the handle of a script?

View the page source and look at the script tag. The id is the handle followed by “-js”: analyticswp-js means the handle analyticswp.

Does it also block scripts I pasted into my theme?

Not on its own. Scripts added by WordPress can be found by handle or address. For a script you pasted by hand, mark it with type=”text/plain” and data-lbc-categorie=”statistics”, and it will wait for consent too.

Does it work with page caching?

Yes. The banner is in every page and stays hidden until the browser sees that there is no valid choice. Nothing is decided on the server per visitor.

Where is the choice stored?

In one cookie, lbc_consent, in the visitor’s browser. It is kept for the number of days you set.

Does it update automatically?

It appears in your plugin list like any other plugin, and you can switch on automatic updates. An update check sends only the plugin name and version to lijn-b.nl.
